Eligible BHA Families Offered 500 Incentive to Participate in Boston Saves

Boston, MALocal News

Boston's initiative to offer a $500 incentive for eligible families in Boston Housing Authority (BHA) properties marks a significant enhancement to the Boston Saves program. Designed to encourage participation among families with Boston Public Schools (BPS) students in K2-5th grade, this incentive is available to families who apply by May 1, 2025. The program has already provided over $1. 7 million in funding to assist families in saving for their children's future education. Mayor Michelle Wu expressed gratitude for the partnership with BHA, emphasizing its role in empowering families to take control of their economic futures.

The Boston Saves program not only provides initial funds but also offers ongoing incentives and financial education resources. Last fall, 268 students benefited from a similar incentive, showcasing the program's tangible impact. As families engage with the Savings Center, they can track their savings and earn additional funds through simple activities. This initiative aims to unlock the potential of Boston's children and support their educational journeys.
