Boylston Street Construction Advisory

Boston, MALocal News

The City of Boston has announced significant construction on Boylston Street, commencing March 18, which involves the removal of the dedicated bus lane. This initiative aims to enhance roadway safety and accessibility ahead of the highly anticipated Boston Marathon. Construction will occur predominantly during overnight hours, with crews beginning the milling process on March 18 and completing it by March 20. The resurfacing of the roadway will take place from March 21 to March 22, ensuring minimal disruption to daytime traffic. Post-resurfacing, the asphalt will need to cure before the application of new lane markings, scheduled to start on March 27.

Additionally, the Boston Transportation Department will implement new signage and parking meters in early April to improve curb use. All construction activities will be subject to weather conditions, with potential delays anticipated due to cold temperatures or precipitation. This project reflects the city's commitment to maintaining a safe and functional transportation network for its residents and visitors.
