Bostons Best Spellers Celebrated at 17th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee
The 17th annual BCYF Citywide Spelling Bee took place in Boston, showcasing the remarkable skills of 24 youth spellers from across the city. The event, attended by family, friends, and educators, saw 13-year-old Sapna Malhotra take home the championship by spelling "Senecio" correctly. Mayor Michelle Wu celebrated the hard work of all participants, stating, “The City of Boston is honored to celebrate you. ” The competition highlighted the dedication of over 3,000 young people who participated in local spelling bees to qualify for this prestigious event. Rivera noted the inspiring dedication displayed by the spellers and expressed gratitude to the Boston Bruins Foundation for their support. Each participant received a medal, reinforcing the spirit of achievement and encouragement. Sapna will now represent Boston at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D. C. in May, alongside other winners who received trophies and various awards.
This event not only fosters spelling skills but also cultivates vocabulary and self-confidence among Boston's youth.
