City of Boston's Official Tree Arrives November 18
Mayor Michelle Wu announced the arrival of Boston's official Christmas tree from Nova Scotia, scheduled for November 18 at 11 a. m. The 45-foot white spruce, nominated by Ronald and Claire Feener, marks the 54th year of this tradition and celebrates 108 years of friendship between the two regions. The tree symbolizes Boston's support during the 1917 Halifax Explosion, strengthening the bond between the cities. Mayor Wu expressed delight in participating in the tree cutting ceremony in Nova Scotia, becoming the first Boston Mayor to do so.
The tree will be greeted by local officials, including Santa Claus, and the public is encouraged to attend. The official lighting ceremony will occur on December 4 at Boston Common, with festivities broadcast live on WCVB Channel 5. This event has become a cherished holiday tradition, bringing families together in celebration. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the event, highlighting its significance to the local community.
