Parks Department Announces 2025 Holiday Lightings

Boston's official 2025 Christmas tree, a 45-foot white spruce from Nova Scotia, arrived on November 18, celebrated by local residents at Boston Common. Nominated by Ronald and Claire Feener of Lunenburg County, the tree will be lit during a grand ceremony on December 4, marking 54 years of friendship with Nova Scotia. The celebration will start at 6 p. m. and be broadcast live on WCVB Channel 5, with the tree lighting scheduled for approximately 7:55 p.

In addition to the tree lighting, Boston will host the lighting of the Trellis at Christopher Columbus Park on November 24 and the fifth annual lighting of the ship at Martin’s Park on November 29. The Copley Square Tree Lighting returns on December 1 after a two-year hiatus, featuring live music and appearances by Santa Claus. Martin's Park, designed for families and children of all abilities, provides a festive atmosphere with its holiday display.
