City of Boston Licensing Board Approves Four New Liquor Licenses

Boston, MALocal News

The Boston Licensing Board has approved four new liquor licenses for restaurants located in East Boston, Roxbury, and the South End. Mayor Michelle Wu emphasized that these new zip code-restricted licenses will support local businesses and enhance the vibrancy of these neighborhoods. This approval follows the enactment of a new law signed by Governor Maura Healey, which added 225 liquor licenses, the largest increase since Prohibition ended. Out of these, 195 licenses are designated for specific neighborhoods to encourage economic development. The newly approved establishments include El Barrio Mexican Grill and Mondo in the South End, The Mix Vault in Roxbury, and Bono Restaurant and Catering in East Boston.

City officials are optimistic that these licenses will foster a thriving culinary scene and create new jobs. Additionally, 65 more neighborhood restricted licenses are expected to be available beginning January 1, 2026. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to make the liquor licensing process more equitable for local entrepreneurs.
