The City of Boston and The Community Builders Announce the Start of Construction at 127 Amory Street
Construction has begun on a mixed-income development at 127 Amory Street in Jamaica Plain, which will provide 96 new affordable homes. This initiative is part of the Jackson Square redevelopment, a collaboration involving the Boston Housing Authority, the Mayor's Office of Housing, and several community organizations. Chief of Housing Sheila Dillon stated that the project underscores the city's dedication to ensuring housing stability for families of all income levels. The development will include 12 three-bedroom, 51 two-bedroom, and 33 one-bedroom units, with homes available to those earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income. Ten units will be allocated for formerly homeless individuals or families, enhancing community support.
Additionally, the redevelopment preserves 199 public housing units and includes amenities such as a new greenway. Mayor Wu's administration aims to tackle the affordable housing crisis through innovative policies and streamlined processes. The financing for this project comes from a mix of public and private investments, showcasing a comprehensive approach to urban development.
