Mayor Michelle Wu celebrated the graduation of 32 new EMTs and the promotion of seven EMS members during a ceremony at Faneuil Hall, bolstering Boston's Emergency Medical Services. The recruits completed the Boston EMS Recruit Academy, an intensive training program designed to prepare them for various emergency situations. Collectively, they responded to over 4,700 emergency calls during their training, showcasing the increasing demand for skilled EMS professionals. Chief James Hooley noted the critical need for their services as call volumes reach unprecedented levels. Additionally, the Cadet Program funded training for 12 graduates, opening pathways to fulfilling careers in public service.

This approach addresses staffing challenges faced by EMS systems nationwide. Dr. Bisola Ojikutu, Boston's Public Health Commissioner, highlighted the importance of equitable care in emergency situations. Overall, these initiatives aim to strengthen public health and safety in Boston.
