Woman accused of shoving woman, 63, off MBTA bus reaches plea deal

Boston, MALocal News

Luz Pineda, 32, accepted a plea deal after pushing a 63-year-old woman off an MBTA bus, resulting in injuries to the victim. The Suffolk County District Attorney's office stated that Pineda must refrain from using public transportation as part of her agreement, which includes three months of GPS-monitored home confinement. Additionally, she must complete an anger management course, stay away from the victim, and continue her mental health treatment. The altercation escalated when the victim declined to exit the bus to let Pineda, who was accompanied by an infant, disembark. Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a disorderly passenger, discovering the victim bleeding from her head and with a laceration near her eye.

Surveillance footage captured Pineda's actions, and she later changed her appearance to evade identification. Prosecutors have recommended a suspended sentence of 60 days, with 30 days to be served and 10 hours of community service. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding safety and behavior on public transportation in Boston.
