Braintree police searching for 2 on scooter, one of whom allegedly fired shots in the air

Braintree police are investigating a shooting incident involving two individuals on a scooter who fired shots early Friday morning. Surveillance footage shows the passenger discharging three shots into the air at a 45-degree angle while the scooter traveled at high speed near Shaw and Nelson Streets around 2:30 a. m. Officers found three 9-millimeter shell casings at the scene, indicating the use of a firearm. Following the shooting, the suspects fled into Quincy and crossed the Fore River Bridge toward Weymouth.

Prior to the incident, they gathered with another scooter driver in front of a business on Commercial Street in Weymouth. The police have asked the public for assistance in identifying the individuals involved. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Braintree police at 781-794-8620.
