Man admits in TV interview to killing and burying his parents

Lorenz Kraus, 53, confessed on live television to killing and burying his parents, claiming it was a mercy killing due to their declining health. Authorities discovered the bodies of Franz Kraus, 92, and Theresia Kraus, 83, after investigating suspicious Social Security payments that were still being collected. Kraus was arrested shortly after the interview aired and faces two counts of murder. His public defender entered a not guilty plea during a brief court appearance. The TV station's news director revealed that Kraus had contacted them, prompting the interview.

Initially reluctant to admit his actions, Kraus ultimately stated his concern for his parents' suffering motivated his decision. The investigation revealed he had been using his parents' Social Security benefits for personal expenses over the years. Positive identification of the bodies is still pending as authorities continue their investigation.
