Recounts for Bostons mayoral, District 7 races scheduled
Boston election officials will conduct recounts this weekend for two significant races: the District 7 City Council seat and the mayoral election. In the District 7 race, Mavrick Afonso filed recount petitions after finishing just 20 votes behind the second-place candidate. He stated that his effort is about protecting democracy and ensuring the election results represent the voters' intentions. In the mayoral race, community activist Domingos DaRosa seeks to qualify for the general election ballot, having received only 2,409 votes, below the 3,000 required. If successful, DaRosa could join Mayor Michelle Wu on the ballot, who won decisively against Josh Kraft.
Recounts will take place in wards 4, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, and 18, scheduled for Saturday at 9 a. m. The outcome of these recounts could significantly impact the political landscape in Boston. Local officials aim to ensure the integrity of the electoral process amid closely contested races.
