Council Approves 600,000 in Grants to Support Boston's Youth and Job Seekers

The Boston Council unanimously approved $602,919 in grants to enhance workforce development and youth empowerment initiatives. Three grants from the Department of Labor will support job training, career counseling, and adult education at MassHire sites, specifically Jewish Vocational Services and Action for Boston Community Development. Additionally, four grants from city partners focus on youth development, including a grant from the William T. Grant Foundation for a new data analyst to improve the Youth Jobs program. A grant from Boston Children’s Hospital will fund a citywide youth summit and professional development opportunities.

Grants from Boston State Street Global Advisors and the Baupost Group will support the YOU program, aimed at reducing youth court involvement. The Council highlighted the importance of providing critical support for youth to thrive and succeed in their communities. This funding reflects a commitment to investing in the future of Boston's residents, particularly its youth. The initiatives are expected to create significant opportunities for job seekers and empower young individuals across the city.
