Former N.H. police officer arrested again, facing new child porn charges

Boston, MALocal News

Former Seabrook police officer John Giarrusso faces new federal charges for allegedly receiving child pornography while on bail for similar accusations. U. S. Attorney Leah Foley stated that between October 16 and 17, 2024, Giarrusso received videos depicting child sexual abuse via the Kik platform. The alleged victim appeared to be between 5 and 11 years old.

Earlier this year, he was indicted in Essex Superior Court on charges of possession of child pornography and distribution of graphic sexual images to a minor, to which he pleaded not guilty. Following his arrest in March, Seabrook police placed him on paid administrative leave, but he is no longer with the department. If convicted on the federal charge, Giarrusso could face a minimum sentence of five years, with a maximum of 20 years, plus up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. His attorney, Pamela Rogers, declined to comment on the cases. The situation raises significant concerns about the conduct of law enforcement officers and their responsibilities in protecting vulnerable populations.
