Uber driver fights off carjacker in Lancaster, police say
An Uber driver thwarted an attempted carjacking in Lancaster early Thursday morning, showcasing remarkable bravery. The incident unfolded on Seven Bridge Road, where the driver stopped to remove a tree limb obstructing their path. Suddenly, two males approached, one brandishing a firearm and demanding the passenger's phone. The passenger exited the vehicle and attempted to flee, while the driver bravely confronted the unarmed suspect in the driver's seat, physically ejecting him. Following the ordeal, both individuals escaped unharmed and contacted the police.
The Lancaster Police Department is actively investigating the incident and has described the suspects as two Hispanic males of smaller stature. One suspect was noted to have puffy hair consistent with an afro and was wearing sweatpants without a shirt. Such incidents raise concerns about safety for rideshare drivers and passengers alike, prompting discussions on crime prevention in the area.
