Mayor Wu Announces Luis Perez Demorizi as Inaugural Executive Director of Franklin Park

Mayor Michelle Wu appointed Luis Perez Demorizi as the inaugural Executive Director of Franklin Park, beginning September 15, 2025. This role is part of the Franklin Park Action Plan, which seeks to restore ecological health and enhance community engagement with the park. Perez Demorizi has over a decade of experience in parks operations and open space planning, making him well-suited for this position. The City has made unprecedented investments in Franklin Park, hiring six dedicated maintenance staff and addressing critical infrastructure needs. The Franklin Park Coalition has supported the creation of this role and looks forward to collaborating with Perez Demorizi.

The Action Plan provides a roadmap for future investments to maintain accessibility and support desired activities. Significant improvements include the expansion of tennis courts and renovations to White Stadium. These efforts reflect a commitment to revitalizing one of Boston's most treasured parks.
