Boston, MALocal News

Massachusetts is currently grappling with high heat and humidity, with temperatures expected to reach the 90s through Thursday. StormTeam 5 meteorologist Mike Wankum indicated that the most uncomfortable days will be Wednesday and Thursday. Scattered showers are anticipated in the evening, particularly west of Interstate 495, with a 60% chance of rain on Thursday. Tropical Storm Erin, which formed earlier this week, is expected to strengthen into a major Category 3 hurricane with winds reaching 115 mph, although it will remain offshore. By next Thursday, Erin will approach Massachusetts but is not predicted to impact land areas.

Boston has experienced 17 days of 90-degree temperatures this year, surpassing the average of 14. The last time Boston had more than 15 days of such heat was in 2022, with 21 days recorded. A shift to more comfortable weather is expected over the weekend.
