Police shoot, critically injure man accused of hijacking trash truck in Everett, DA says

Police shot Admilson Vizcaino, 31, during a confrontation after he allegedly hijacked a Republic Services trash truck in Everett, leaving him in critical condition. Vizcaino faces multiple charges, including four counts of attempted armed carjacking and armed assault with intent to rob. The incident began when he exhibited erratic behavior at a gas station in Medford, prompting police to pursue him. After crashing his SUV, Vizcaino attempted to gain access to other vehicles before confronting the trash truck driver. Law enforcement officers fired shots when they approached to rescue the driver, leading to Vizcaino's injuries.

The Everett police officer involved has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy. Chief Paul Strong stated that the officers likely prevented further harm during the chaotic events. Lower Broadway was temporarily shut down as police processed three crime scenes in the area following the incident.
