Heat advisory issued as temps near 100 degrees storms possible Friday

A heat advisory will be in effect for much of southern New England, excluding the Berkshires, South Coast, and Cape Cod, from Thursday at 11 a. m. to Friday at 8 p. m. Forecasters predict temperatures in the low-to-mid-90s, with heat indices reaching 100 to 103 degrees due to high humidity.

StormTeam 5 meteorologist KellyAnn Cicalese indicated that thunderstorms could develop Friday evening, with the strongest risk in northern New England. Southern regions may also experience severe storms, bringing heavy rainfall and damaging winds. The tropical humidity will persist into the weekend, though a complete washout is not anticipated. Residents should remain vigilant and prepared for sudden weather changes. The approaching cold front is expected to trigger these thunderstorms, enhancing the possibility of severe weather conditions.
