Milford baseball game suspended after large fight breaks out between players, fans

Boston, MALocal News

A baseball game in Milford, Massachusetts, was halted after a significant fight broke out between fans and players during the fourth inning on Monday night. The altercation reportedly started when a fan in red shorts confronted opposing supporters, leading to punches being thrown by an East Springfield player. In response to the incident, Cindy Stulac, president of the Milford Legion Baseball Post, announced that the following night's game would be postponed at the direction of the Milford police chief. East Springfield's coach, Eduardo Colon, indicated that the fan had been taunting throughout the game, which contributed to the escalation. Police arrived shortly after the fight began and have stated they are continuing their investigation, although no arrests were made.

Milford TV executive director Tim Kaouette remarked that such violence is highly unusual in Legion games, which he has covered for 12 years. The league is now considering relocating future games to neutral sites or hosting them without fans present. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about fan conduct at youth sporting events.
