Man shot, killed during armed standoff with Fall River officers, police say

Boston, MALocal News

Fall River police shot and killed 38-year-old Domonick Knight during an armed standoff while he was in a mental health crisis. Family members alerted authorities early Tuesday morning, expressing concern for his safety and reporting he was armed. Despite efforts from a trained Crisis Negotiator to establish communication, Knight did not respond. When police breached the front door after an hour, Knight fired upon them, prompting return fire. He was later found with a rifle and a handgun, suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

The uncertainty around whether police gunfire caused his injury has left family members seeking answers. Knight's sister, Danielle Otarro, expressed disbelief and called for justice, asserting that her brother did not intend to end his life. The Bristol County District Attorney's office and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the shooting.
