Heres what to know about the 2 separate Red Line shutdowns this month

Boston, MALocal News

The MBTA implemented a partial shutdown of the Red Line starting Thursday night, affecting service between Kendall/MIT and JFK/UMass stations through Sunday. This maintenance work aims to enhance service efficiency but will also lead to another shutdown next weekend, from 8:30 p. m. Thursday until Sunday, July 20. Riders can utilize fare-free commuter rail services between South Station and Braintree, as well as North Station and Porter during these shutdowns.

Shuttle buses will operate at all stations except Park Street, where access can be gained via the Winter Street concourse. The MBTA's plan also includes shuttle services to State and Haymarket, providing connections to the Orange and Blue lines. These measures aim to minimize disruption for commuters during the maintenance period. The agency encourages riders to plan their trips accordingly and utilize the available alternatives. Such maintenance work is crucial for ensuring long-term reliability of transit services in the area.
