New Partnership With Gavin Foundation To Expand Access to Recovery and Treatment Services
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced a $200,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation to strengthen the city's partnership with the Gavin Foundation, a recognized leader in substance use treatment. The funding will enhance the efforts of the Coordinated Response Team (CRT), which aims to address safety and health challenges in Boston neighborhoods, particularly concerning outdoor substance use. With the grant, CRT will work with Gavin Foundation professionals to provide treatment navigation and transportation for individuals, especially in the Mass & Cass area. Peter Barbuto, President and CEO of the Gavin Foundation, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing their mission to restore dignity and hope for individuals facing addiction. State Representative John Moran noted the significance of this funding in addressing the persistent challenges of substance use.
Councilor John Fitzgerald echoed the importance of building pathways to recovery for saving lives. Over the past three years, Boston has made strides in creating recovery pathways and addressing public safety. The initiative represents a critical step in the city's comprehensive approach to combating substance use and enhancing community well-being.
