UMass student in D.C. for congressional internship killed in shooting

Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old finance major at UMass Amherst, was killed in a shooting in Washington, D. C. , while interning for Rep. Ron Estes. Authorities reported that multiple suspects opened fire from a vehicle late Monday night, injuring Tarpinian-Jachym, an adult woman, and a 16-year-old boy.

Tarpinian-Jachym, who was not the intended target, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning. Rep.
