2 kittens, cat stolen from Ossipee, New Hampshire, animal shelter

Boston, MALocal News

Police in Ossipee, New Hampshire, are seeking a suspect who broke into the Lakes Region Humane Society and stole two kittens and an adult cat. The incident occurred around 2 a. m. when Executive Director Megan Williams received an alarm notification and reviewed surveillance footage showing a masked individual. Officers found a broken window and a rock at the scene but left after a search, only for the suspect to return and take the animals.

Williams highlighted the unusual nature of the crime, noting that there are easier ways to acquire pets. The missing animals include two black kittens and a tabby cat, which adds to the urgency of the police's appeal for public assistance. The shelter has requested anyone who sees the cats being sold to notify law enforcement. This incident raises concerns about the safety of vulnerable animals in nonprofit shelters. The investigation continues as police work to identify and apprehend the burglar.
