The City of Bonney Lake is in mourning following the passing of former Mayor Neil Johnson, Jr. , who dedicated nearly two decades to public service, having been elected to the City Council in 2002 and serving as Mayor from 2006 to 2021. Mayor Terry Carter described Johnson as a leader remembered for his kindness and integrity, emphasizing the profound impact he had on the community. Under Johnson’s leadership, Bonney Lake experienced significant growth, with enhancements to local parks, trails, and crucial infrastructure that met the city’s increasing demands. He was also a strong advocate for community engagement, strengthening local pride through city events that brought residents together.

City Administrator John Vodopich expressed gratitude for Johnson’s mentorship and friendship, highlighting his commitment to public service.
