The City of Bloomington is organizing a Downtown Community Cleanup Day on May 5, 2025, to prepare for the influx of visitors during Indiana University's graduation weekend. This community-focused event aims to enhance the downtown area by removing litter, pulling weeds, and improving the overall look of public spaces. Volunteers will have the unique opportunity to work side by side with Mayor Kerry Thomson, fostering community engagement and pride. City staff will lead the cleanup, providing all necessary tools and equipment, ensuring a smooth and organized effort. Participants will convene at Waldron Hill Buskirk Park for opening remarks before splitting into teams to tackle assigned cleanup zones.

The initiative encourages involvement from individuals, families, businesses, and community groups, reinforcing the importance of collective action in local beautification efforts.
