Bloomington's Parks and Recreation Department is actively enhancing accessibility across its facilities, leveraging nearly $1 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. Construction at Building Trades Park will kick off in April, focusing on creating accessible paths and picnic shelters. A new wheelchair-accessible mini bus will support Kid City Summer Camp participants, ensuring inclusive transportation options for children of all abilities. The installation of push-button doors at local community centers will further improve access for individuals using mobility aids. Notably, Bryan Park will unveil an inclusive playground in June 2024, featuring innovative play structures designed for children aged 5-12.

Additional accessibility measures include a tactile map at Switchyard Park to assist individuals with visual impairments. The newly installed picnic shelter at RCA Community Park will also enhance visitor access with a concrete ramp.
