Bloomington Rail Trail Temporarily Closed at Rogers Street for Road Crossing Improvements

Bloomington, INLocal News

The City of Bloomington is temporarily closing the Rail Trail at Rogers Street starting October 20 for essential road crossing enhancements. This closure affects a section of the trail 1. 23 miles south of Country Club Drive and is expected to remain in effect for up to 30 days. While no detours are available, the spur leading to the Southern Meadows neighborhood will remain accessible. Key improvements include the installation of a pedestrian-activated Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon and a new streetlight to improve visibility for trail users.

The Monroe County Highway Department has also sanctioned a closure of South Rogers Street at the crossing for the same period. The project encompasses vegetation removal, site grading, and stormwater inlet installation to ensure long-term functionality. These upgrades are part of the city's efforts to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists along the Rail Trail.
