Additional Input Opportunities on College and Walnut Corridor Study Upcoming

Bloomington, INLocal News

Bloomington will host two public open houses on October 28 and 30 to invite community feedback on the College Avenue and Walnut Street corridor study, which began in 2023. The study addresses high automobile traffic and aims to enhance user safety and economic development along this vital corridor. Ryan Robling, Planning Services Manager, highlighted the necessity of consistent communication and active listening to reflect the community's needs. Attendees will review two design proposals from the Toole Design Group, one maintaining the current one-way traffic system and another proposing a two-way conversion. Additionally, city staff will hold pop-up events from October 29 to November 4 to further collect public opinions.

Feedback can also be submitted via email or an online form available on the study's webpage. This corridor study stems from the City’s Transportation Plan adopted in 2019, which identified the need for improvements due to frequent motor vehicle crashes. The outcome will inform future infrastructure decisions crucial for local safety and accessibility.
