City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Announces Two Final Opportunities for Community Input on Master Plan

Bloomington, INLocal News

Bloomington's Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Community Workshop on October 7 from 6 to 7:30 p. m. at Switchyard Park, allowing residents to contribute to the five-year master plan. This workshop is one of the last chances for public input before a final survey is distributed to a statistically valid sample of local households. Since April, the department and its consultant have gathered insights from focus groups, interviews, and facility assessments, engaging over 1,200 residents through an online survey.

Parks and Recreation Director Tim Street stated that developing a strong master plan requires time and resources but is essential for the city’s future park system. The department manages over 2,300 acres of parkland and strives to reflect community values in its programs and facilities. A commitment to equity and inclusion underpins their planning efforts. The final survey following the workshop will help verify the feedback received. This initiative highlights the city's dedication to enhancing recreational resources for residents and visitors.
