The City of Bloomington Reschedules Community Paint Day for the Duke Substation Walls to October 12

Bloomington, INLocal News

The City of Bloomington has rescheduled its Community Paint Day for the Duke Substation Walls to October 12, running from 11 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. , after the original date was postponed due to inclement weather.

This community event allows local residents to take part in painting the first mural in a series designed to beautify the Duke Energy Substation. Volunteers can register for 75-minute shifts, with a limit of 150 participants, and they must sign a waiver in advance since walk-up participation is not allowed. No prior painting experience is needed, as local artists will be on hand to guide volunteers throughout the process. Duke Energy is supporting the initiative by providing free t-shirts to participants, fostering community spirit. The mural will be a collaborative effort featuring the distinct styles of three local artists, contributing to a unified theme of community togetherness.

This project, backed by a $25,000 grant from Duke Energy, aims to enhance public art in Bloomington and is part of a broader initiative that includes a total of five murals. Each mural will reflect the artistic vision of selected local artists, showcasing the city's commitment to public art and community involvement.
