Two arrested following shootings in downtown Bellingham

A drive-by shooting in downtown Bellingham on June 15 led to two arrests and left one man injured. Police reported that a car fired at a group of pedestrians near E Magnolia St, striking a 37-year-old man in the foot. The injured man and his companions attempted to pursue the suspect vehicle but mistakenly shot at a rideshare vehicle that resembled it. Fortunately, the rideshare driver was unharmed, and the group fled in their own car. Officers managed to stop the suspects on N State St shortly after the incident.

Ricky Rodriguez, 19, was arrested for shooting at the rideshare driver, while 20-year-old Alejandro Villa-Herrera faces charges for rendering criminal assistance. The original shooting victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. Police are urging anyone with information about the drive-by shooting to contact their tip line.
