Pace Rubadeau Trumpeter, Curator of the First Friday Busking Program
Trumpet player Pace Rubadeau is a key figure in Bellingham's music community, organizing the First Friday Busking Program to showcase local talent. He moved to Bellingham ten years ago, driven by a passion for music and the support of friends. Rubadeau has performed in all 50 states and four continents, cementing his expertise in early blues and jazz. His collaboration with Chuckanut Bay Distillery revives 1920s speakeasy culture, with the next event set for July 21. The COVID-19 pandemic inspired him to advocate for accessible live music, leading to his nightly performances in a parking lot for 68 days.
The busking program, now in its fifth year, guarantees payment to performers, supported by local organizations like the Chuckanut Health Foundation. Rubadeau’s work enriches the local culture and economy, providing a platform for artists to thrive. His personal journey reflects a deep connection to the community, emphasizing that Bellingham is where he belongs.
