Allegiant Airlines to end service at LAX after 17 years

Bellingham, WALocal News

Allegiant Airlines will end its service at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on January 3, 2026, after 17 years of operation. The airline attributed this decision to rising operational costs, making LAX less viable for their business model. In February, Allegiant will launch a non-stop route from Bellingham to Hollywood Burbank Airport, which may provide a more economical option for travelers. Following the cancellation of the LAX route, Bellingham International Airport will be left with only six non-stop destinations in the upcoming year. This shift highlights Allegiant's ongoing adjustments to its route network to adapt to changing market conditions.

The local community may experience reduced connectivity and travel options as a result. Allegiant has been a major player in regional air travel, and the loss of LAX service could affect travel patterns. Overall, this decision marks a significant change in Allegiant's operational focus and local air travel dynamics.
