Man arrested following high-speed race on I-5 in Bellingham
A high-speed race on I-5 in Bellingham resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old man early Wednesday morning. According to Washington State Patrol spokesperson Brad Tulloch, two cars were racing at speeds of around 120 mph shortly after 1 a. m. The pursuit began when one vehicle exited onto Lakeway Drive, leading Bellingham Police to engage in a chase. The driver fled on foot near Samish Way but was tracked down and arrested with the help of a drone and K9 team.
The suspect faces charges and remains in Whatcom County Jail without bail. This incident highlights the persistent issue of street racing and its dangers to public safety.
