The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) plans to repave SR 539, also known as the Guide Meridian, from I-5 to the Canadian border in 2027. To gather community input, WSDOT invites residents to complete a short questionnaire available until August 7. This thoroughfare serves as a vital freight corridor, accommodating between 35,000 and 52,000 vehicles daily. The repaving project will enhance safety and improve travel conditions for both commercial and personal vehicles. WSDOT aims to incorporate the community’s feedback to tailor the project to local needs effectively.

The agency emphasizes the importance of public participation in ensuring the project aligns with residents' experiences. Stakeholders are encouraged to share their thoughts on road usage, highlighting the significance of community involvement in transportation planning. Such engagement reflects WSDOT's commitment to maintaining essential infrastructure in Whatcom County.
