U. S. Secretaries Brooke Rollins and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited Texas A&M University on Tuesday, coinciding with the 100th day of President Trump's presidency.

Their discussions centered on agriculture and public health, particularly food security and livestock health. Rollins, a Texas A&M graduate, presented at the Beef Center about the New World screwworm, a parasite that threatens livestock and wildlife. The U. S. Department of Agriculture identifies this parasite as a significant risk, necessitating urgent attention.

After their university visit, the officials toured Sawyer Farms in Hillsboro, Texas, a fourth-generation family farm that integrates agricultural production with storage and transportation. Kennedy's trip also included personal support for his son, who completed the Ironman Texas triathlon in over 12 hours. This visit underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing domestic food supply chains and preventing livestock diseases. By fostering collaborations between federal entities and academic institutions, the officials aim to address critical agricultural policies and public health infrastructure.
