Unseasonable Warmth Grips Austin Before Weekend Cold Front
Central Texans will experience unseasonable warmth, with temperatures nearing 90 degrees before a cold front arrives this weekend. Forecasters predict highs in the upper 80s to almost 90 degrees, particularly on November 8, when Austin may break its daily record of 89 degrees. Historically, Austin has recorded only five days at 90 degrees in November since 1898, making this heat unusual for the month. A meteorologist from the National Weather Service remarked, “Reaching 90 degrees in November is not unprecedented, but it’s definitely not an annual occurrence. ” This warm spell follows a stretch of pleasant autumn days in late October.
By Monday, residents in the Hill Country may experience near-freezing temperatures, marking winter's arrival. The weather pattern will remain stable until Friday, when a significant cold front will move into the area. Austinites can enjoy sunny skies and dry air as summer makes a final appearance in Central Texas.
