Weather alert Scattered storms expected Thursday, clear hot weather ahead

Atlanta, GALocal News

Scattered storms are likely Thursday afternoon in Metro Atlanta as a weak cold front moves in from the northwest. Parts of north Georgia are under a Level 1 severe weather risk, with threats including wind gusts reaching 60 mph and localized flooding from isolated storms. The FAA has implemented a ground stop at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport until 2 p. m. , causing significant delays and cancellations.

Meteorologist Laurann Robinson noted that while the front will bring showers and storms, it will not drastically lower temperatures. Storm activity is expected to peak during early afternoon hours and taper off by the evening commute, with another round of showers possible later in the night. The weekend forecast indicates clear and sunny weather, ideal for outdoor activities as temperatures typically reach the mid to upper 80s. Next week will bring a noticeable heat increase, with highs potentially reaching the mid-90s. Residents should remain vigilant and keep track of weather updates as conditions evolve.
