10 charged with stealing more than 6M in electronics as part of porch pirate ring

Gwinnett County police dismantled a multi-million-dollar theft ring, arresting 10 individuals linked to over $6 million in stolen electronics. The suspects allegedly formed a "large-scale criminal organization" that stole devices across the southeastern United States. Electronics were reportedly shipped nationwide and possibly overseas, indicating a significant operation. Investigators connected multiple homes and suspects during a seven-month investigation, leading to searches in Gwinnett County, Doraville, and Johns Creek. All arrested face charges under the Georgia RICO Act, alongside additional charges including theft and possession of burglary tools.

Officers recovered over 5,000 electronic devices valued at more than $6 million, as well as $1. 2 million in cash, eight vehicles, and five firearms. This case highlights the ongoing issue of organized retail crime affecting local businesses and consumers. Law enforcement aims to curb such thefts to protect the community and local retailers from financial losses.
