Atlanta, GALocal News

A devastating apartment fire in southwest Atlanta claimed the lives of three young children on February 19, 2025, prompting an outpouring of grief from their mother, Jahda White. Jahda expressed her anguish, saying, “It’s very traumatic for me because those were my only babies. ” The fire, caused by electrical issues, resulted in the children suffering from smoke inhalation. Jahda was unaware of the danger her children faced, revealing that she was at work when the tragedy occurred. The County Oaks Apartments, where the fire took place, had been cited multiple times for safety violations, including issues with smoke detectors and electrical outlets.

The Fulton County medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. A GoFundMe page has been initiated to support Jahda as she navigates her loss. This heartbreaking incident highlights the need for increased safety measures in residential buildings to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
