2 arrested in 4K Walmart shoplifting attempt in Duluth

A significant shoplifting attempt at a Walmart in Duluth, Georgia, resulted in the arrest of two suspects who attempted to steal over $4,000 in merchandise. The incident began when a vigilant store manager alerted nearby police officers about the ongoing theft. Upon the officers' arrival, the male suspect tried to flee, abandoning a cart filled with unpaid items, but was quickly apprehended. During the arrest, police discovered he was carrying a wallet that did not belong to him. Meanwhile, the female suspect attempted to escape but was caught after a short pursuit, initially providing officers with false identification.

Investigative tools helped confirm her identity, revealing several outstanding warrants against her. Both suspects admitted to recent fentanyl use, prompting their transport to a local hospital for evaluation before they were taken to Gwinnett County Jail. They now face multiple charges, including felony Theft by Shoplifting and Obstruction of Law Enforcement, as the stolen merchandise was successfully recovered and returned to Walmart.
