911 call released related to fight between APD officer and employee at Midtown bar

Atlanta, GALocal News

The Atlanta Police Department has released a 911 call from an incident involving off-duty Officer Garrett Rolfe and bar employee Raefeael Penrice at X Midtown. Rolfe, who previously faced charges in the death of Rayshard Brooks, is on administrative leave as authorities conduct an investigation. The altercation began with a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation, according to police. During the call, Penrice expressed concern about Rolfe's behavior, stating that he felt threatened when Rolfe followed him into an alley while allegedly brandishing an object. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has communicated with the police chief regarding the incident, underscoring the importance of an impartial investigation.

Penrice was arrested and charged with simple battery and battery after the incident. The investigation continues, with no bodycam footage released so far. This incident raises significant questions about police conduct in civilian interactions, especially given Rolfe's prior history.
