City Installing Downtown Holiday Decorations

Yakima, WALocal News

The City of Yakima is set to enhance the downtown area's festive spirit by installing approximately 80 lighted holiday decorations on November 30th, 2023. Installation will occur from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, resulting in temporary traffic restrictions to facilitate access for city trucks and equipment to overhead street lights and utility poles. This initiative is part of the lead-up to the 23rd annual Holiday Lighted Parade, which will take place on December 3rd at 6:00 pm. The parade will start at 6th Avenue, travel down Yakima Avenue, and finish in front of the Capitol Theatre, a focal point for community celebrations. This event is a cherished tradition that draws significant participation from local residents and visitors alike, highlighting the community's holiday spirit.

The city urges residents to be aware of the traffic changes and to join in the festivities. By decorating the downtown area, Yakima aims to create a welcoming and joyful atmosphere for all. Residents are encouraged to partake in the upcoming events as the holiday season approaches.
