City of Yakima 2024 Annual Action Plan Public Input Requested

Yakima, WALocal News

The City of Yakima is preparing its 2024 Annual Action Plan to apply for HUD funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program, focusing on addressing local housing and community development needs. This comprehensive plan includes initiatives such as the Single Family Rehabilitation Program, which aims to preserve affordable homeownership by rehabilitating existing family units for low- to moderate-income households. Furthermore, the First Time Homeownership Program provides essential financial assistance to new buyers, thereby expanding access to affordable housing. The city is also committed to supporting Community Housing Development Organizations and increasing affordable housing through new construction efforts. Two public hearings will take place on November 21 and December 5, 2023, where community members can express their views.

Written comments on the plan are encouraged until December 19, 2023, promoting active civic engagement. The city is making hard copies of the Annual Action Plan available at key locations and offering translations upon request. This approach underscores Yakima's dedication to transparency and community involvement in shaping its housing policies.
