Neighbors recall hearing shots when man was killed near Everett park

Woodinville, WALocal News

A tragic shooting incident in Everett, Washington, claimed the life of a man in his 50s near Senator Henry M. Jackson Park on January 6, 2025. At approximately 11:30 p. m. , residents reported hearing two to three gunshots, which they initially thought were leftover fireworks from New Year's celebrations.

Upon police arrival, they discovered the victim lying on the ground, leading to a large law enforcement response. Many neighbors, including Hillary Phouivanhny, expressed shock and concern, noting they had not heard the gunfire despite living nearby. This incident is part of a troubling trend, as the area has seen previous shooting investigations, including a notable case where around 50 rounds were fired during a family gathering in November 2023. Residents are increasingly anxious about safety in their community and are calling for more police presence to deter violence. The Everett Police are actively investigating the case and urging anyone with information to come forward.

This shooting underscores ongoing issues of gun violence in the region, raising significant questions about public safety.
