The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) in Washington, DC, is set to open its summer camp lottery from February 14 through March 3, 2025, for families with children aged 3-13. Mayor Muriel Bowser highlighted the importance of these camps, noting their role in helping children make new friends while learning and having fun in a secure environment. The camp registration process will utilize a random lottery system, with families receiving results via email by March 4. If selected, families must accept the enrollment offer and make payment by March 16, 2025. Notably, the lottery will also include Boost Camps, which are specialized programs for tweens aged 11-13.

With sessions running from June 23 to August 15, the camps offer diverse activities ranging from STEM to arts and sports. In-person assistance will be available at various DPR locations for families needing help with the lottery process. This initiative aims to ensure all children in the city have access to enriching summer experiences.
