The Bowser Administration celebrated the 15th anniversary of Capital Bikeshare (CaBi), which has significantly reshaped transportation options in the District since its launch on September 20, 2010. Originally a collaboration between the District of Columbia and Arlington County, CaBi has expanded to more than 800 stations and 8,000 bikes across the region. In 2024, riders recorded over 6 million trips, a 36. 9% increase from the previous year, marking a second consecutive year of record ridership. DDOT Director Sharon Kershbaum emphasized the program's importance in connecting residents to jobs, schools, and cultural sites.

To enhance service, DDOT has initiated a solar canopy pilot to recharge e-bikes at select stations. Since 2021, the administration has refurbished over 140 older stations as part of maintenance efforts. The Bowser Administration has also invested heavily in multimodal transportation, including 55 miles of bike lanes and an increased budget for future projects. CaBi's commitment to accessibility includes partnerships providing adaptive cycling options for riders with disabilities.
