Mayor Bowser Delivers First Housing and Homeownership Opportunities at Reservoir District on Former McMillan Site

This redevelopment transforms the long-closed McMillan Sand Filtration Site into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood, providing essential amenities and homeownership opportunities for DC residents. Bowser stated that the project demonstrates the effective use of underutilized land for community benefit. The public-private partnership includes developers EYA, Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners, and Trammell Crow Company. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie expressed personal pride in the project, emphasizing its reflection of community values.

The townhome design preserves the historical character of the site with white brick facades. Bowser’s Growth Agenda continues to prioritize affordable housing, with significant budget allocations for housing programs. Additionally, the Reservoir District launched a summer event series to foster community engagement and celebrate local culture.
